As the Senior Development Officer you will plan and lead a comprehensive development program to generate incremental revenue for the organization. You will provide expertise and guidance for the fundraising process, including: strategic outreach with the Executive Director; channel management; and cultivation of individuals, corporations, foundations. The role also performs good stewardship, compliance, and quality assurance through solid infrastructure and systems.
Provides guidance and assistance to the Executive Director around fundraising, marketing and community outreach.
Develops and maintains relationships with internal partners (staff and Board) and external partners (individuals, businesses, and foundations) that contribute to securing the organization’s financial resources.
Actively participates in gift solicitation. Builds strong donor relationships through cultivation and stewardship with individual, business, and foundation donors.
Develops and executes business plans focused on the “One Boys Town” mission, considering the values and principles of Boys Town and regulatory compliance.
Provides outstanding functional leadership and communicates effectively across the organization and with senior management to achieve goals.
Develops and directs avenues of strategic communications.
Bachelor's degree in business administration, marketing, or equivalent. Master's degree preferred.
10+ years of professional, related experience preferred, with consideration given to related fields (non-profit, business development, sales, marketing, communications, public relations).
5+ years of progressive fundraising and/or development experience.
Available to travel as needed.
Proven success generating revenue in all major arenas including: individual, corporate, foundation, and capital campaign solicitation; direct marketing; special events fundraising; and planned giving.
Knowledge of strategic planning, resource allocation, and leadership techniques.
Knowledge of non-profit administration, fiscal, and organizational management, and administration of grants and donations.
Knowledge and practice of the ethical standards within the fundraising industry.
Ability to engage and influence a wide range of stakeholders internally and externally while maintaining necessary degree of integrity and confidentiality.
Ability to collaborate between departments, communicate and to align strategies to achieve the mission.
Ability to motivate and develop leaders across all areas of responsibility.
